A Message From Our Chair Of Governors

As Chair of the Governing Body and the parent of three daughters who have all attended Abbey Lane, I feel I can speak with some authority about the aims, objectives and successes of the school.

One of the most noticeable things about Abbey Lane School is the welcoming yet businesslike atmosphere and this plays a considerable part in ensuring that good standards of work and behaviour are maintained. This is something we aim for and is achieved through the hard work of staff and goodwill from parents.

The caring and professional approach of all staff is a noticeable feature of the school, as is the support of the great majority of parents, and this partnership works well for the benefit of the pupils. Together with your support I am sure the staff's commitment and enthusiasm will ensure that your child makes good progress throughout his/her time at school.

Abbey Lane Governors are continually working with the Headteacher and staff to find ways of improving educational opportunities and standards still further. You will, I am sure, be aware of the funding difficulties faced by all schools - Abbey Lane is no exception - and this means that sometimes we are unable to implement changes which we know would be beneficial to the education of our pupils.

Nevertheless, we welcome comments and ideas from parents / carers on all aspects of school life and these may be brought to the attention of the Headteacher, one of the parent governors, myself or any other governor.
